Reviews
Ate here twice during our stay in Grande-Vallée.
Calamari, coquille de mer, fish and chips, salmon and shrimp linguini, tarte au sucre, chocolate cake. Excellent food, very romantic view, comfortable atmosphere, impeccable service. You won't be disappointed!
Came in late and they held the kitchen for us. Had a wonderful meal with drinks and the service was fantastic. Breakfast did not disappointed either. Eggs perfect, beans and tortiere were delicious. Thank you for the great stay.
We stayed the night, and was it worth it- Most Definitely! Motel standard was our only choice at short notice but we had everything we needed. Dinner at the restaurant was unmatched to all but the elite in Dallas (our hometown). A walk after dinner to the pier was close and very enjoyable. And for you connected buffs, WIFI was 89 up AND down!!! Yes that is correct!! Would recommend this most definitely!
New management, as I understand, as of year ago.
The view is stunning, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff is friendly.
The hotel has a fabulous view of the Grande Vallee bay. The owner is on site and really goes out of his way to ensure you have everything you need during your stay. We stayed on the 2nd floor of the main building in a well equipped room with 2 queens and a stunning view of the bay. The motel has charm and everything was super clean. We were treated to an amazing show of diving birds and then 2 varieties of whales blowing and surfacing not far off shore. Wish we had tried the on site restaurant the menu looked great.
Best view of any restaurant in the world,
Food was absolutely to die for. I’ll be back for sure in the future.
We are in Gaspésie on holiday and
We read the reviews on this restaurant and were eager to come and try the dish " l'assiette du pêcheur".
The plate is priced at 130$ for 2 people.
We had very high expectations on this dish and we were very eager and happy to try it
I must say that we were straight out disappointed.
The plate presentation was nice and full of variety of fish ( fyi : no crabe or lobster) but the disappointing part was when it arrived. NO ONE took the time to explain what everything on the display was. I was expecting a better service.... I did ask the waiter when he walked by to explain a fish but he was hasty to reply and leave. ( The restaurant was not full by the way).
The food was relatively good but it was not exceptional as I would have expected it to be for that price. 130$ for the plate was very expensive for what it was, The butterfly shrimps were a Tadd overcooked an dry. I thinks reasonable pricing for the plate would have been 80-100$.
All evening we barely had any service, we were hastily asked if the food was good whilst barely listening to our comments and walking away... We then saw that same waiter take time and talk and laugh with other customers that he seemed to know therefore we know that the service could have been better...
We also had the creme brulé which was homemade but it was gelatinous, not creamy therefore not that fantastic.
Also, a MAJOR TURN OFF on our experience was when we were finishing up the creme brulé and the waiter came along and gave us our bill receipt. (We had not asked for our receipt yet and would have probably ordered another drink) . When he delivered the bill the waiter mentioned that we could take our time before paying. He probably said this when he saw the look of confusion on our faces. I have to admit that I was extremely insulted and disappointed by this , we ate at other restaurants in Gaspésie and the waiters came up to us and requested if we wanted anything else or the receipt before bringing the receipt to us.
The lack of service we received this evening, is extremely disappointing. I would have expected more. Especially considering the amount our diner cost ( over 200$).
I would have liked to think it was probably an off day for this waiter and let the disappointment go but considering that we saw him talking and being friendly to other tables... We also had another waitress come over to refresh our water or remove dishes from outer table. She came over once to replenish our water.
I did not enjoy my experience and do not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Rooms are spacious, well lit, and located viewing the incredible scenery. Room service does a very good job. Shower stalls a tad small, but overall an amazing place to stay! Highly recommend.
